10 years imprisonment for Winnipeg Hammer Assault

WINNIPEG – A judge has sentenced a Winnipeg man to 10 years in prison for an unprovoked hammer attack.

31-year-old Jerry Kipling was convicted of aggravated assault earlier this year in May 2020 when a 15-year-old boy was mugged while buying a pizza.

Provincial court judge Murray Thompson says it was disastrous for the boy who lost his right arm, is now stuttering and has to wear a helmet to protect his brain.

Judge Thompson also points out that Kipling shows no remorse for what he has done and appears unwilling to change his ways.
